What we believe
God
We believe in the one true, holy and living God, Eternal Spirit, who is Creator, Sovereign and Preserver of all things visible and Invisible. God is infinite in power, wisdom, justice, goodness, and love and is in wields authority with gracious regard for the well-being and salvation of humanity, to the glory of God’s own name. We believe the one God is revealed in the Trinity, classically known as: Father, Son and Holy Spirit; distinct but inseparable, eternally one in essence and power.
Jesus
We believe in Jesus Christ, truly God and truly man, in whom the divine and human natures are perfectly united and cannot be separated. Jesus is the eternal Word made flesh, the only begotten Son of the Father, who was born of the virgin Mary by the power of the Holy Spirit. During his life of ministry, he served others to give us an example of how to live, he suffered and died on the cross to reconcile us to God the Father. Jesus’ death acts as a sacrifice, not only for original guilt, but also for the actual sins of man. Jesus is eternal Savior and Mediator; he intercedes for us and by him all will be judged.
Holy Spirit
We believe in the Holy Spirit who proceeds from and is one being with the Father and the Son. The Holy Spirit convinces the world of sin, or righteousness, and of judgment. The Holy Spirit leads humanity in faithfulness to the message of Christ and into the fellowship of the Church. The Holy Spirit comforts, sustains and empowers believers and guides them towards truth.
Resurrection
We believe in the resurrection of Jesus Christ. We believe the he did truly rise again from the dead and took again his body, with all things appertaining to the perfection of man’s nature. We believe that instead of dying again, Jesus ascended into heaven and there sits until his return to judge all of humanity at the last day.
The Bible
The Bible contains all that is necessary for salvation. Both the Old and New Testaments reveal the Word of God as both contain mention of the Messiah, Jesus Christ. The law given to Moses in the Old Testament is no longer binding to those who are in Christ, but it should be noted that we are all under the moral obligation of the entirety of scripture.
The Church
We believe the Christian Church is the community of all believers under the Lordship of Christ. We believe it is one, holy, apostolic, and catholic. It is the redemptive fellowship in which the Word of God is preached by those who are divinely called and where the Sacraments are administered.
On Sin
We believe that humanity exists in a fallen state. Not just because of the sin of Adam but because of the inherent corruption of the nature of every person. We believe that humanity, apart from the grace of Christ, is naturally inclined toward evil. Except for someone to be born again, they cannot see the Kingdom of God.
Free Will
We believe that humanity, though sinful in nature, when influenced and empowered by the Holy Spirit is able to and responsible in freedom to exercise their will for good in this world.
Justification
We believe that we are accounted as righteous to God not by the good works that we accomplish while alive, but rather only by the faith we have in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Sacraments
We believe that the Sacraments of the Church are ordained by Christ. The two Sacraments that we recognize are Baptism and the Lord’s Supper or Eucharist. These Sacraments are a means of grace by which God works invisibly in us, quickening, strengthening and confirming our faith in God.
We believe that Baptism signifies entrance into the household of faith and is a symbol of repentance and an inner cleansing of sin, a representation of the new birth of Christ and a mark of Christian discipleship. We believe that children are under the atonement of Christ through the prevenient grace of God and are acceptable subjects for Baptism. Children of believing parents through Baptism become the special responsibility of the Church. They should be nurtured and led to a personal acceptance of Christ and by a profession of faith confirm their Baptism.
We believe the Lord’s Supper is a representation of our redemption, a memorial of the sufferings and death of Christ and a token of love and union which Christians have with Christ and with another.
